Karen Y. Shelton
was installed as the 2008 President of the Down River Association of
Realtors® (DRAR) at their 78th Annual Inaugural Party
held at Crystal Gardens on Saturday, December
8, 2007.
Shelton has been a
member of the DRAR since 1998 and has served on the Board of
Directors since 2003 as well as on many of the Association’s various
committees, including Community Outreach, Program, Bylaws, Risk
Reduction, Professional Development and Professional Standards,
during the course of her tenure.
Grosse Ile
resident, Shelton, is with Red Carpet Keim Viking Group in
Southgate, Michigan.
The oath of office
was administered to all Association Officers and Directors by John
Obee, Vice President and shareholder of Wood, Kull, Herschfus, Obee
& Kull P.C. of Farmington Hills. Obee has served as the general
counsel of the DRAR for many years.
In addition to
Shelton, Officers and Directors installed included Tom Long of Keck
Real Estate as Vice President, Patrice Miller of Gold Group as
Treasurer and Marie Gamber of Century 21, Americal, Brownstown as
Secretary. The remaining Directors for 2008 are: Donna Begley,
Jerry Bobbitt, Chet Drake, Jackie Hildebrand, David Kief, Trish
Lentz, Margaret Nykiel, Rick Smith, Penny Tarwacki-Barnett, and
Jamey Yanke.
The Association’s
retiring Directors are Brooke MacNee, Shawn Nelson and
Kimberly Woolum.
Each year a
chairman or committee is honored and this year the Public Relations
/ Communication Committee was presented
with the Committee of the Year award.
